Come and take part in a celebration of The Salford Trail by walking a section of it with your workmates and colleagues. The challenge is to walk more than 500 miles collectively. Family members, friends and dogs are also welcome!
There will be different circular walks, each led by an experienced guide, to take part in ranging from two to six miles long. The walks will be followed by refreshments on the green in Monton at the front of the church, so bring a packed lunch or picnic.
Why are we doing the walk?
Evidence shows that walking improves physical activity, supports mental wellbeing, helps the local environment and enhances communities. Regular walking has been shown to reduce the risk of chronic illnesses, such as heart disease, type two diabetes, asthma, stroke and some cancers.
Around 20% of Salford is greenspace of one form or another, not including the vast areas of agricultural land and most of the green belt. The new Salford Trail is a 50 mile/80 kilometres walk and entirely within the boundaries of the City of Salford.
